What's in The News Today

A car bomb explodes in Erik Chappell's car. Chappell is a lawyer who practices family law and civil litigation in Michigan and Ohio. He was driving his two young boys to football practice when is car blew up in Monroe, Michigan. A bomb was planted in his Volvo and after the explosion the car was just metal. The three did survive and his two sons underwent surgery. The reason for the bomb is unclear, but is considered a criminal act.

Starbucks is sued for having cameras in the bathroom. A family was sightseeing and stopped at Starbucks in Norfolk, Virginia and their 5-year-old daughter spotted a camera in the bathroom.  William Yockey accompanied his daughter into a unisex bathroom and then that is when the little girl noticed a camera that was wedged into the pipe under the sink. Police were called to the scene and it was  confirmed that the camera was turned on and was being recorded when the little girl spotted it. Yockey is suing Starbucks for a $1 million dollars.

More deaths from listeria found in cantaloupes. The cantaloupes were traced back to Colorado labeled "Colorado Grown," distributed "Frontera Produce, Jensenfarms.com" or "Sweet Rocky Fords." Eight people have died and 55 people have become sick in 14 states. Symptoms: fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, headaches, stiff neck and confusion.

Troy Davis was put to death even after all his support from Jimmy Carter and the Pope. Troy's sister said "he died calm and the last moments were joyous." His last words were addressed to the victims family stated "I am not the one that personally killed your son." Troy was accused of killing a cop, but there was no DNA, or blood that linked him to the crime. Many were outraged that he was put to death.
