What's in The News Today

Amanda Knox is back in the news and she will be back in court this week. She was accused of killing her roommate in Italy. Expert testimonials stated that evidence was contaminated and DNA did not have enough to convict Amanda. Italian prosecutors want to keep her in jail for another 20 years. Amanda has already served 4 years in jail. This will be her final phase of her appeal of a 26 year sentence. The verdict of her appeal is scheduled the week of September 26th.

Texas wildfires are still burning out of control. The fires have already destroyed 1,000 homes and leaving 5,000 residents evacuated. The fires are staying ignited due to drought conditions and high winds that knocked down power lines. There 85 fires burning in the state of Texas.

The FBI is warning that al-Qaeda is threatening to take control of small planes to attack the U.S. Security has been stepped up, but there are 228,000 planes and 4,000 airports, too many to monitor.
The 10th year anniversary of "911" is Sunday.
