What's in The News Today

A non-native mosquito has been fond in Southern California and it is deadly. The Mosquito was found in San Gabriel Valley and this mosquito can transmit deadly diseases such as: yellow fever, encephalitis and dengue fever. The mosquito was brought over accidentally in 2001 by a "Lucky Bamboo" plant from Asia. Los Angles was able to wipe out the problem then and hopefully they will succeed again. Los Angles will start the spraying as early as Friday. The mosquito is black with white spots and is aggressive during the day. If anyone is bitten by one call vector control immediately.

The two American hikers may be released this week from Iran. They will be freed on bail of $500,000 each. Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal both 29-years-old were just recently sentenced to 8 years. They have already served 2 years in Tehran prison in 2009. The third hiker Sarah Shourd was released last year on $500,000 bail. All three Americans were graduates from Berkeley. They were arrested as they were studying about the Middle East and they crossed the border accidentally and was arrested for espionage. An agreement for the release of these men was made a week after talks about a counterproposal of Iran's nuclear program with the West.
