Inspirational Friday

A woman and her horse saves a boy from being a attack by a Grizzly bear.  A wrangler (Erin Bolster) was taking a group of eight clients out on a horse ride in National Forest between West Glacier and Hungry Horse Mountain, which included a 8-year-old boy. Bolster was riding "Tonk" a large burly horse 18 hands high. Bolster has years of experience and has been riding since she was four. It was the peak of the season for bear sightings daily. The wranglers knew the spots where the bears were and the bears usually run away when they see the horses. The trail ride was going great until they came around a corner and her horse refused to move. A deer came out of the brush and was being chased by a grizzly bear and all the horses panicked.  Everyone grabbed the horn of their saddles in order to hang on to their frightened horse. Seven of the horses ran to the trial that would lead them back to the barn, but the one carrying the 8-year-old boy headed in the path of the grizzly. The grizzly then started to chase the horse and boy and now they became its prey. The boy's father's horse would not follow and continued towards the barn. Bolster put her heels into Tonk's ribs and they bolted towards the boy and his horse. The boy was bent over his horse holding onto the horse's neck so his head would not hit the heavily forested trees. The bear was growling and snarling and completely focused on the boy and the horse. Bolster knew the only way to stop the bear from attacking was to come face to face with the bear. She had no hesitation she was not going to allow the boy to get hurt and her horse was following her lead.  The horse went at the bear with its boulder size hooves and fire boldness and the bear came within 10 feet before it ran to one side. At this time the boy fell off his horse and the bear attempted to go after the boy again, but Bolster and Tonk approached him again, it took three times to finally get the bear to leave. Bolster picked up the shocked boy and put him on Tonk and rode back on the trail, which was a 10 minute ride.  Bolster did not begin to shake until she was back with the others and at a safe distance away from the bear. Tonk was also wet with sweat and shaking. Bolster was so proud and connected to Tonk that she bought him.

A deformed puppy learns how to walk. A woman  in Sanford, Florida noticed a squirming garbage bag. A man was selling pit-bulls outside of Save-A-Lot for $50. The woman asked "what's in the bag" and he told her "not to worry abut it." The woman continued to ask him and finally he opened the bag. A puppy severely deformed was inside the bag. The puppy couldn't even hold its head up. She was told by veterinarians and shelters that the dog should be euthanized. Erica Daniel a regular at local animal shelter said "she wanted to take the puppy home for one night and show it love before it would be euthanized in the morning." "What a difference a day makes" Harper the puppy is alive and thriving he is a playful gray puppy and getting more mobile with each day. The puppy was born with "swimmer puppy disorder" that is when the puppy is laid flat and their legs are spread out. Daniel continued to massage Harper's tight muscles and within a few hours Harper was able to lift her head. "Hip Dog Canine Hydrotherapy & Fitness" heard about Harper and donated free hydrotherapy and massage therapy to Harper and she started to walk. She still can't walk on tile or hardwood floors, but she does well on grass and concrete. Harper is 11 weeks old and playing with seven other dogs that Harper has rescued.
