What's in The News Today

A college student gets attack by a shark near Surfside in Texas off  Follett's Island.  During Memorial weekend a Houston University student was attacked by a 5ft. bull shark who bit her twice. She (Corey Robinson) survived the attack and is walking around with a bandage covering the huge teeth marks. She said she felt "the shark jerk her and then bite her." This area is known for surfers and uncommon for shark attacks. Corey stated that "she will go into the water, but only to get her feet wet."

First responders watch a man drown in Alameda, California due to police pursuing the man. First responders watch the man thread water for an hour and then he drowned. The lack of compassion from the responders was because of the fear of not knowing if the man was armed and dangerous. A woman tried to save the man, but it was too late. First responders changed their policy about rescuing a person no matter what the circumstance may be, but unfortunately this was after a man died.

A U.S. student is killed during a field trip to Cost Rica a 16 year old boy from Kansas was shot in the chest. The boy and his friends were out after curfew and were making their way back to their room when they were mistaken for burglars and were shot at leaving one dead. They were cutting through the grounds of the popular hotel 'La Fortuna' when a hotel guard mistaken them for burglars. The young man was identified as Justin McLouth from Kansas school district. He was on a 9 day field trip with his Spanish club. This is being treated as an homicide and the guard did not have a permit to carry a gun.

A girl dies from falling off a Ferris wheel during a field trip in New Jersey. A 11 year old girl fell from a 156 foot Ferris wheel on Friday. 'The Great Wheel" is a great attraction it's the largest Ferris wheel on the East Coast.  The reason for the fall is unknown and the Ferries wheel was inspected back in March and passed.
