A girl beats her odds when she contracts rabies, Precious Reynolds from Willow Creek, California is an 8-year-old who contracted rabies from a rabid cat who scratched her. When she arrived at UC Davis Children's Hospital she couldn't swallow or stand up. She had encephalitis (brain Swelling) after several test doctors discovered that she had rabies. Precious had only a 2% chance of living. The doctors put her in a medicated coma with anti viral drugs called "Milwaukee Protocol" and allowed her brain to rest. She will be fine and is in therapy to get her strength back. She is the third person in the U.S. who survived from rabies without the vaccine. She didn't receive the vaccine because she already had signs of rabies.
