What's in The News Today

A Muslim  woman sues Abercrombie and Fitch because she refused to remove her hijab (a scarf to cover the hair). Hani Khan was hired wearing the hijab and she worked in the stock room for four months. The district manger and human resources was bothered by her wearing the hijab and fired her through a telephone call. She is suing for discrimination and punitive damages. Abercrombie and Fitch has been sued in the past, they paid out 40 million dollars in 2004 for discrimination against minorities.

The United States will run out of money on August 2, 2011, unless a budget can be met. The U.S. Treasury will run out of money to pay the country's bills. This will cause the U.S. to default on its financial obligations and put the U.S. in a recession.

A fire in New Mexico is getting close to a nuclear plant "Los Alamos National Laboratory." The facility remains closed for the second day, while firefighters battle the fire. Evacuations reached 8,000 people in Los Alamos County. Los Alamos, is one of the nation's top national-sercurity research facilities. There is a fear of the hazardous material in the plant, but reports state that "it is being monitored closely."
