What's in The News Today

Arizona fire gets out of hand burning up 192,000 acres near New Mexico and Arizona border. More than 2,200 people have been evacuated. Many residents are using breathing inhalers due to the poor air quality and thick smoke. The fire started May 29, it's the third largest state fire in history. The heat and the winds are fueling the fire and it will be days before people can return to their homes to assess the damage.

Chile's volcano is erupting and causing ash clouds to Argentina 3,500 people left Chile due to the eruption of Puyehue-Cordon-Caulle. The volcano is 500 miles from the capital of Chile "Santiago." Air flights remained cancelled the health ministry has sent face mask and eye drops to the region. This eruption has been the most severe eruption since 1960.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev wants to put an end to Moammer Gadhafi's rule and is sending an envoy to Libya. This took place after the president Medvedev asked "Gadhafi to step down from his 42-year in Libya." Moscow  has been against air strikes by NATO and Gadhafi's government asked for Russia to be the mediator between Gadhafi's government and rebel leaders.  President Medvedev will not meet with Gadhafi, but instead with rebel leaders.
