What's in The News Today

A North Carolina girl is attacked by a shark at Ocracoke Island in North Carolina. Six-year-old girl was in 18 inch water when the shark started to maul her leg. She was with her father swimming on her boogie board. She was bitten below her knee and flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital in stable condition, but this morning she is in critical condition. Shark attacks usually occur at dusk and dawn that is when they hunt for food. This was the 5th attack from 2010-2011 in the same area.

A women is rescued from falling into Niagara Falls. Lindsay Burgess was with her finance hiking at Devil's Hole in an area of Niagara Falls. She bent down to touch the water and was sucked in by the treacherous current of the Falls. A tour boat saw her body as she fell into the river and the crew rescued her. She was under the water for a minute and they had to perform CPR on her. She was transported to Mount Saint Mary's Hospital. She was put on a respirator and the doctors were not sure if she was going to survive. She is now out of intensive care and breathing on her own. She can't stop thanking the captain of the tour boat for saving her life.

New terrorist attacks on U. S. soil by the al-Qaeda have been reported by Homeland Security. The targets are American utilities, nuclear and chemical plants. The attacks are planned for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Reports from Homeland Security have stated that "violent extremists have indeed obtained inside positions." Homeland Security has sent out a coast to coast bulletin.
