Inspirational Friday

Homeless children in Las Vegas get educated by their principal and in return she provides food, clothes, and pays their parents rent. Whitney Elementary school in East Las Vegas is where you will find Sherrie Gahn the principal. She became sadden and motivated when she saw the children eating ketchup for lunch and sneaking it and their pocket to bring it home. More than 85% of the children that attend the school are homeless that is equivalent  to 518 out of 610 students. She receives 500 donations per day from businesses and people across the country. One woman from Philadelphia sends $20.00 per month. A gambler gives a portion of his earnings $2,000 a month. Sherrie has also started a small college fund for the children.

Recycled soap has become a global project. Derreck Kayongo who's father was a soap maker in Uganda  realized the importance of soap and that many hoteliers throw away daily. Over 2 million children die per year due to lack of sanitation. Derreck started the "Global Soap Project" and has volunteers across the United States collecting hotel soaps. They then ship the collected soap to a warehouse in Atlanta where they reprocess the soap and package the soap. Once that has been completed the soap  gets distributed directly to  people who need it for FREE. More than 100,000 bars of soap have been given to 9 countries.
