What's in The News Today

Rats are used to find landmines in Columbia. For years Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC)  and other guerrilla groups that are criminal groups half killed 40 people in 2011 and injured 247, in 2010 they killed  535.  The rats are used to sniff out landmines that are targeted by radical groups. Columbia has been training rats since 2006. The rats are able to sense the metals that are used in the landmines and they are lightweight so they do not detonate the mines.

Many live beyond poverty line in the U. S. More than 50% of Americans lack financial security, which they live above poverty level, but do not have enough money to cover living expenses: housing, healthcare, etc. The survey suggested that 45% of U.S. residents live in households that are struggling to pay their bills. The  break down is 39% of adults and 55% are children in the group. This is a wakeup call to Congress when they start cutting family programs who rely just to stay afloat, and anymore cuts can be catastrophic.
