US satellites have been hacked. This is the second time that hackers have taken over U.S. satellites command and control systems. Officials stated that "it had to happen from a nation power." The hackers hacked two Earth observation satellites. Is China the culprit? Possibly, "Chinese military writing advocate attacks on space and ground communication links and ground-based satellite control facilities, which could be detrimental if conflict occurs." These satellites can become vulnerable. The U.S. cannot clearly blame China, but congressionally  mandated commission made reference that Chinese military writings did refer to attacks on ground-based space communication facilities.
