Radiation levels are increasing in Japan and the evacuating areas may reach up to 25 miles around the nuclear reactors. The food supply is being threatened and the big question is can "spring farming occur." The lively hood for the farmers determines how safe the soil is and right now the levels are extremely high. A farmer that did not evacuate because he didn't want to leave his farm including the farm animals  committed suicide two days ago due to all the stress and the unknown.  Foods that have already been contaminated are: cabbage, celery, milk and spinach, within the areas of the reactor. Tokyo supermarkets have signs stating "that the food is safe." Sea water around the nuclear plant  have reached 4,385 times the legal amount of radiation levels. They want to put a camera under water to see what is causing the leakage by checking the rods associated with the reactors.

The traffic controls asked the pilot to get close because the private plane would not respond to the air towers. The traffic controller was not sure if it was a terrorist plane. This put 137 passengers at risk because of the uncertainties of what the private plane would do.

Japan's radiation levels spike 10 million times higher than normal inside reactor two. The levels were so high that the workers had to withdraw from taking another reading.  Officials in Japan have blamed that the water was contaminated inside the reactor and that is what caused the high radiation reading. They don't know where the water is coming from, but are certain that some of the radioactive water is seeping through a cracked reactor core. Japan's nuclear safety agency states "that each reactor has tons of radioactive water." Seawater around the reactors have been tested and have climbed from 1,250 higher than normal to 1,850 just in the past weekend.

Will Gadhafi  resort to terrorism and possibly use mustard gas now that he is losing the battle? Gadhafi has been making mustard gas in his factory since the 80's. Gadhafi was behind the blowing up of the Pan Am flight 103 killing 270 people and 189 Americans in Scotland. He is also blamed for the bombing of a German Disco in 1986 that killed two American Soldiers (Forer, 2011).  The U.S. is monitoring the stock pile of mustard gas that Libya has in its possession. Libya still contains tons of mustard gas, but the ammunition to launch the mustard gas has been destroyed (Khan, 2011). Mustard gas is a chemical that attacks the eyes and skin. It causes blisters and when it is inhaled it damages the lungs and other organs. It does not create immediate symptoms it takes up to six hours after exposure. It is not always fatal and increases the risk of cancers and birth defects. The gas is yellow and smells like mustard and at times garlic, horseradish and apples. It becomes a liquid at room temperature. This gas has been around since WWI (Council on Foreign Relations, 2008).

California's atmosphere will receive the nuclear plume from Japan's nuclear leak as early as tomorrow. The amount is suppose to be minute as long as there isn't an explosion and the core on the floor of the  nuclear reactors stays intact. Japan has required that residents close to reactor evacuate to a 13 mile radius and the U.S. is telling the American residents to evacuate at a 50 mile radius. The U.S. is sending charter planes to get the Americans out of the area. If they can get a new power line to work in time the reactor can be saved and will prevent an explosion. Officials are stating "that Japan's not moving fast enough and that they need more help." there is a total of 180 people that take shifts of 50 to work the reactors. Four Japanese Reactors in trouble one exploded releasing radiation levels of 11.9 MSV per hour. Safe levels of exposure is 2.4 MSV per year. Reports out of Japan states that they did get the levels down to .6 MSV.  The questions that many are asking is the Prime Minster Naoto Kan down playing the severity of  the nuclear crisis and are they moving too slow to get in under control? Should they start dropping sand bags on the reactors and create a cement barrier around each reactor like they did with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Russia?  Could the radiation reach the U.S. yes, if there is a major explosion and it would take 6-10 days it would reach the Alaskan Islands then the coast.

A Power Plant in Japan Exploded after a 8.9 earthquake, which caused leaking of radiation. Officials from Japan stated that radiation levels are decreasing. The protective vessel that surrounds the radium is still intact, but it still is at a great risk of an explosion, if that does happen that would release large amounts of radiation. A 12 mile evacuation from the plant has been put in place. The 1986 nuclear accident at "Chernobyl" in Russia caused over 6,000 cases of childhood thyroid cancers. If the residents at the time of the nuclear disaster would have taken iodine it would have blocked the intake of the radioactive material in the thyroid. Reports out of Japan did state that they were given residents close to the plant iodine as a protective measure.
At this point and time reports are stating there are 900 hundred dead, but numbers will increase.
The average earthquake last seconds to a minute, but Japan's earthquake was 5 minutes in duration with after shocks registering over 6.
