What's in The News Today

Memorial Day is the day we honor our men and women who have served and lost their lives in the Military. The day was originally called Decoration Day following the years of the Civil War. This day became official in 1971 and it is celebrated the last Monday in May. Many Americans visit cemeteries or memorials honoring these brave men and women. Parades and barbecues are also an American tradition on this day.

Homes are being build for our wounded veterans who have lost their limbs. Corporal Daniel Gasca lost both his legs while serving in Iraq. He was living in a one bedroom apartment with a wife and two children. He has two prosthetic legs, but at times he still needs a wheelchair and his small apartment made it impossible to maneuver one. 'Homes for the Wounded' built a 4 bedroom home for Corporal
Gasca and these volunteers custom make homes for disabled veterans. The homes are completed within 90 days.
