A new filter material captures the flu virus. A material used in air filters for air conditioners, air cleaning filters and face masks traps the flu virus before it is released into the air and gets into the nose, mouth and eyes. The flu sickens millions per year and kills almost 300,000. This will aid in the new strains of the flu that aren't part of the yearly vaccines. The substance is called chitosan and is made from shrimp shells. "The scientists combined chitosan with the substance that the flu virus attaches to in order to infect the cell."They can then put this on the fiber of the filter and stop the virus.
