Dedication to Whitney Houston
1963-2012
She died at the age of 48 in her hotel room in Beverly Hills, California. Whitney's cousin is Dionne Warwick and she is the god daughter of Aretha Franklin. As a teenager she would sing in the choir at her Baptist church. Her mother was gospel/R&B singer Cissy Houston. Houston also sang with her mother in concert and was back-up vocalist  for Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan. Her career became in bloom with her first single "You Give Good Love," which became her first hit. Her career just took off she starred in movies "The Body Guard"  and received her fame. She was talented and beautiful. Her life changed when she married Bobby Brown who was abusive to her. Houston was in drug rehab twice. She stated that she was "drug-free to Oprah Winfrey in 2010," but it was reported that she missed concert dates and was stopped at the airport due to drugs. Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. in her hotel room on the fourth floor. Her death came on the eve of the Grammy's. Her mentor Clive Davis stated that the "Grammy's was Houston favorite time of the year. Davis also said that "Houston was suppose to appear at the gala and perhaps perform." Tonight Grammy Awards ceremony will be a tribute to Whitney Houston.
