What's in The News Today

Solar Flair has reached the earth this week and will continue through Thursday and Friday three solar flares have reached the earth's surface. These flairs will produce Aurora Borealis also referred to as the  "northern lights." This can cause an magnetic disturbance in earths magnetic field.  The flares can create an outage in shortwave radios. Outages have been reported in southern China. This event can affect GPS systems and even force airplanes to reroute and disrupt radio transmission.

USC University Hospital in Los Angeles suspended kidney transplant after a kidney was placed in the wrong patient which occurred January 29, 2011. The hospital announced that no harm was done and the patient  survived (Fox LA). A kidney transplant must have a close match to the patient's genetics (UTMB). The hospital does not know how this could have occurred and will continue to investigate (Fox LA).
