Children's jewelry contain Cadmium, which is toxic. There has been over 300,000 pieces of children's jewelry last year that was recalled. The U.S. has agreed for a limited amount of the metal toxic cadmium. The metal has been known to cause cancer and other diseases over a long period of time. The jewelry industry consented for a voluntary limit of the toxic metal.  The voluntary limits allowed for the industry to move quicker, but fining the jewelry industry for higher toxic levels will not be factored in, due to it being voluntarily done. The U.S. then is obligated to recall the products when they reach higher levels of the toxic metal.
