High surf hits California during the holiday weekend. The surf is so strong that it capsized a boat that was smuggling 500 pounds of marijuana, which washed ashore. Waves are expected to reach 10 feet and a 10 foot wave is responsible for destroying a boardwalk and closing two beaches in Orange County. A body-boarder went missing on Wednesday when he got caught in a rip tide. The swells create holes where a person can be in waist deep water one minute and then the next they can't stand
up. The rough surf is coming from New Zealand where a they are having a severe storm.

Another storm is threatening the East Coast. "Lee" is a new tropical storm that can raise havoc on the Gulf Coast. Louisiana is being pounded with heavy rains and Lee is moving towards southern states. Flash flood warnings are from Alabama to Texas into Florida. Tornadoes are also a concern, which can occur within seconds. Lee has the potential to reach hurricane levels by the time it comes ashore. Many Labor Day festivities have been canceled in parts of the south, due to Lee's arrival.
