A grandmother was trapped in a swamp for four days and nights. She was up to her neck in thick mud and branches. Kathleen Shino a grandmother and mother of four left her home on June 17th for a stroll. She blacked out and became submerged in the swamp that is 800 steps from her house. Ants crawled on her face and fish were biting her body. Her cries for help were heard by neighbors on Monday afternoon after 90 hours in sweltering temperatures without water. Alexandra Echazabal and her mother Alexia Cuartas heard moaning, but they thought it was an animal. Shino's children called the Cuartas about their missing grandmother and they called the police about the cries from the swamp. They also knew that an alligator lives in the swamp. Deputy Keith Krapfl was the first responder to find Shino and when he reached the location or he saw was Kathleen's face. He needed a chainsaw to cut through all the branches and the deep roots. Once he rescued Kathleen he also needed help to get out of the swamp. Shino was not aware of the alligator that lives in the swamp and was told several days after she left the hospital.
