Amanda Knox is Back in the News

If you recall in my past post that Amanda Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of killing Amanda's roommate. Amanda was studying abroad in Perugia, Italy when her roommate Meredith Kerscher was brutally murdered in 2007. Amanda and Raffaele were accused of the crime and spent four years in jail. They were both released in 201,  in an appeal, due to not having enough evidence. The Italy Supreme Court overturned Amanda's appeal and wants a new trial.  This would mean that Amanda may have to stand trail again and wouldn't be able sue for wrongful imprisonment. Amanda's parents spent a lot of money to get Amanda freed. Meredith Kercher's parents want answers about their daughter's death. The Kercher family was upset when Amanda and Raffaele were set free and many in Italy believe that they are guilty of the horrific crime.

In America you are innocent until proven guilty and in Italy your guilty until proven innocent.

A 13 Month Baby Boy is Shot and Killed During a Robbery

in Georgia

Sherry West, the mother of the child, Antonio, stated " she was approached by two teenagers that demanded money at gun point, which she claimed she didn't have, but they insisted she did," and then exclaimed "do you want us to shoot your baby?" They shot four rounds and one of them grazed her ear then hit her in the leg. They walked around the stroller fatally shooting baby Antonio in the face. They pushed Sherry out of their way as she was screaming and ran off. One of the suspects was 14-years-old and is being charged as a juvenile and his name is being withheld. The other suspect is 17-year-old De'Marquis Elkins and is being charged as an adult with first degree murder.

Sherry also said "she lost another child Shaun Glassey of 18-years-old in March, 2008." He was killed during an attempt of ambushing another teenager, but the 17-year-old was able to take the knife from Shaun and killed him with it. The 17-year-old was not charged, due to it being in self defense that the murder occurred.

An Autistic Man is Abused

A Mother is Shocked When Hidden Cameras Uncover Her

Son Being abused

Kathy Coleman is the mother of Cameron who is 31-years-old.  Cameron is autistic and non-verbal and has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old. Kathy and her husband were getting too old to provide adequate care for her son so they thought that a 24-hour-in home care would be the best option. Jay Nolan Community Services, in  Mission Hills, Ca aided in finding the care for Cameron. Kathy began to notice bruises on Cameron's body and immediately spoke with management and they stated "they didn't know." The bruises were getting worse so the Coleman's installed hidden cameras and what they uncovered was horrific. The caretaker taking care of Cameron kicked him in the face while on the toilet, then kicked him on the floor, hit him with a towel and then spat in his face. Another video showed a different caretaker pointing a pellet gun in Cameron's face while a female staffer watched.
When the Coleman's told management that they have proof of the abuse management went to Cameron's private residence and began to destroy the cameras and evidence. One of the workers were arrested and more arrests are pending.

The tragic death of a Floridian man that was sucked up by a sinkhole two weeks ago is relived by a golfer in Illinois that became a hole in one. Mark Mihal was on the 14th hole at Annbriar Golf Club, when the fairway floor opened and dropped him 18 ft. deep. His friends did not see him get absorbed into the ground, but noticed he vanished and heard his moans. They ran to him with a ladder and rope and brought Mark to safety, their fast thinking saved his life.
Mark explained his experience as "scared and in pain from his shoulder that was broken from the fall. The mud cascaded around him leaving him in deep darkness and he was frightened that he would fall deeper."

Is North Korea Threatening War ?

North Korea has announced that armistice agreement that ended the Korean War in 1953 is non-valid? Click on the link to read about the armistice agreement that ended the war between North and South Korea http://news.findlaw.com/scripts/printer_friendly.pl?page=/hdocs/docs/korea/kwarmagr072753.html

This change occurred when the UN (United Nations) placed stricter sanctions against N. Korea for nuclear testing on February 12, 2013, and S. Korea was joining a U.S. anti-proliferation plan.  Which, seemed to infuriate  N. Korea, who then cut off communication through phone links with S. Korea. Both parties had invested interest to keep the phone links activated, which served as emergency communication for both countries.

The United States has 28, 500 troops stationed in S. Korea for security purposes.

A Sink Hole Takes a Man's Life

Jeff Bush was asleep when two rooms of his house in Tampa, Florida, was sucked up by a sink hole. His bedroom unfortunately was one of the two rooms that was part of the sinking. His brother Jeremy explains how "Jeff was screaming for help." He ran to Jeff's room and all he could see was a giant hole and Jeff's mattress right smack in the middle of the stinking hole. Jeremy tried desperately to rescue Jeff with a shovel as he shoveled the rubble. He continued until police arrived and then he needed to be rescued as the floor was still sinking. Jeff Bush is presumed dead. The sink hole is 20 feet across and 30 feet deep. This is not an uncommon occurrence in Florida, due to limestone and carbonated rock that deteriorates over time by the acidity of the underground creating sinkholes. Hillsborough County in Florida is known as "sinkhole alley" and is part of two-thirds of the sinkholes that are claimed through insurance companies in the state of Florida.
