Global warming may affect shellfish. A study from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts concluded gas pollution can change the chemistry of the ocean. Ocean acidification is a real problem and within the next 10 to 50 years many countries are going to feel the impact. Especially, the countries that rely on mussels, clams and oysters. Ocean water has absorb too much carbon dioxide from human industrial activities and burning fossil fuels. Poorer countries like Senegal, Madagascar and Haiti rely heavily on shellfish as their main source of protein. In Somalia where industrial fishing is no longer possible and has been fished out, these people turn to piracy out of desperation. This can become a global problem throughout the world if countries don't support the clean air sector.
